Filed under: Experience, Final post, Good bye, Summary, Uncategorized

How fast this semester passed! I am feeling kind of nostalgic because you guys made such a nice group and you made me feel ok every class. I do not really know whether your writing skills improved or not by writing your comments in this blog but what I want to know, and since this is the last post we will make this semester I will ask you to review the whole semester. Remember the first day in class in this group, and now, at the end of this semester how do you feel? What things did you learn? What did you enjoy in class? What thing(s) you didn’t like? Feel free to write anything you like about the class.

To end my comment I must say that I enjoyed working with you and that also I am very sorry if in one way or another I made a comment or had an attitude that may have offended you. I wish you all good luck in your lives and also I wish you can learn English very fast, and the next time we see each other on the street you surprise me by talking in good fluent English. Good luck and good bye!

Sincerely,

Jesús G. Flores.

The Best Days of Your Life

Remembering primary school always makes me happy and also makes me feel nostalgic about those old days when I had nothing to worry about but going to classes and play soccer with my friends. I remember that I had to wear a uniform, and I also remember that when I was in Third grade a teacher asked me to participate in a poetry contest and I had to practice every afternoon after school, so I had to go to her house and spent three hours, in the end it was good, because I won the first place in that contest, of course they gave me a trophy and my parents bought me my first watch. Later, I participated in two others where I won second place. I was in a public school, and I never spoke any foreign languages until junior high school.

Anyway, I am pretty sure you have had a great experience, and that it brings you a lot of memories when you were in primary school, but I you  can’t remember anything in specific here are some questions. Feel free to answer at least five of these questions:
1.    How many hours a day did you have to be in school?
2.    Did your teachers make you do a lot of homework?
3.    Were you allowed to wear any kind of clothes?
4.    What foreign languages did you have to learn?
5.    Were you allowed to choose which sports you played?
6.    At what age were you allowed to choose the subjects you studied?
7.    Were you allowed to choose the subjects you studied?
8.    Were you allowed to call their teachers by their first names?
9.    If you did something wrong, how were you punished?
10.    What kind of exams did you have to take?
11.    Were you allowed to talk to other students during classes?
12.    Was there anything else they made you do that you didn’t like?

It’s midnight and I’m still here

Hey guys, I’m still working, lately I’ve been very busy, doing lots of things, different projects, all of them interesting, challenging, and fun. Because, in the end life is about that: having fun, don’t you think? There are some days that are just like these for me, full of deadlines, but I consider myself a multi-task person, I mean, I can be doing several things at the same time, and I am ok. I am the kind of person who becomes more creative when I am under pressure. Anyway, I am excited about tomorrow, which is Lenguas 10th anniversary, because it is the same when you are planning a party: you expect that everything comes fine, and I am sure that it will.

Talking about a different thing let me tell you that last Tuesday, when we went to the art gallery La Casa Tomada I actually had a lot of fun, and honestly I thought that the kind of reactions you would have would be kind of negative. But, sursprisingly for everybody it turned out to be a cool experience, and I could notice it in your faces and in the comments you made. I appreciate you were there because I believe that art is probably one of the best thing humanity owns. Think about it, what would happen if we delete from the history of the humanity all the art what do we have left? Nothing but wars, anger, death.

Ok, here’s today’s topic: Let’s imagine that you have enough money to buy one art piece to decorate your living room which one would you buy? Would you buy a painting? a drawing? a picture? an sculpture? a poem? Remember that money is not an issue for you. So, please in your comments mention:

  1. Which art piece(s) did you enjoy watching at La Casa Tomada?
  2. Which art piece(s) did you enjoy watching at the University gallery?
  3. What do you think about art or artists?

I understand that also some of you guys didn’t go to the art gallery, that is fine, but you can still comment about your favorite artist or piece of art.

Meanwhile, here’s one of my favorite artists: Wassily Kandinsky, and my favorite painting of his is this. So if I had a lot of money I’d buy this painting to decorate my living room because this painting to me represents the whole world, its beauty, it chaos, and its simplicity at the same time. Ok, gotta go to bed, it’s 1:00 am and tomorrow it’s going to be a though day. See ya’ around!

P.s.: Here are the pictures that Beth took last Monday. Enjoy them, and also post the one you took at the gallery, please.

The Soundtrack of your life

Hi everyone!

This time I have a very interesting question for you: If you had to choose your favorite 5 albums (or songs) which ones would they be, and why?

Here’s mine:

  1. Las Flores by Café Tacvba because this song reminds me when I met a very special person in my life. (I guess you know who I’m talking about)
  2. Habana by Fito Páez, this song was playing in my stereo when my sister called me and told me that one of my uncles had an accident and died.
  3. Play by Moby because this is the album that got me into electronic music.
  4. Distractions by Zero 7 because I really never get tired of listening Sia’s voice, the song is just simply beautiful.
  5. Damn! I really can’t think of a fifth song right now. I guess I’ll tell you later.

P.s. I’ve uploaded the Carta Descriptiva for all of you who don’t know it yet. Carta Descriptiva Inglés 4

Exercise

I get up every morning at 5:40 am to go to the gym and exercise from 6:oo am to 7:00 am. You might think I`m crazy, and yes, probably you are right. But why did I decide to do this? Well, it all started like more than fifteen years ago when I really loved exercise. In my life I`ve practiced lots of different sports such as: Basketball, Baseball, American Football, Volleyball, Running, Swimming, Boxing, and even Skateboarding! I was a skateboarder for about ten years of my life. I really love this sport, and when I lived in Salamanca I used to skate during vacations and on the weekends for about eight hours a day! I mean, I was always on the street practicing it. As a consequence I was a very skinny guy. However when I arrived to Guanajuato city I stopped practicing skateboarding, you probably must now why. (It was mainly because it is almost impossible to skate in Guanajuato!) Anyway, my metabolism changed, and I started to gain weight.
These days you know me, you know that I am a chubby guy, and finally I decided to stop my routine for several reasons: I want to gain physical condition, I want to be healthier, I want to lose my tummy.

Anyway, this was just to tell you that I remember that a few years ago I hated to exercise, now I am back again, now the questions are: Do you exercise? What type of exercise do you like to do? If your answer is negative, tell why you don`t like exercising. If you want, basically answer this question: Exercise in my life.

Exams, exams, exams.

Well, probably all of you are having exams these days. First of all let me tell you all: Good Luck! This post won’t be too long, because I want you to concentrate in your other exams.

This time I’m going to tell you an anecdote I lived when i was a student in Junior High-School. This happened more than ten years ago. I was studying in the afternoons. One day, one of my classmates arrived with the mathematics key in his hand. I mean, he stole one of the exams, answered it, (with help from someone else, of course). I remember he said: I’ve got the exam answers, but please, don’t tell anybody. Fifteen minutes later, the whole class had the answers written on the everybody’s palms. We needed to plan an strategy, so we all decided that we would write some of the answers incorrectly so the teacher wouldn’t suspect that we were cheating.

By the time we arrived to the classroom, and received the exam we realized that it wasn’t the exam we were supposed to have. The teacher had changed it! Of course, a lot of us failed the exam because we wouldn’t know how to answer it.

Finally, the next day, when the teacher brought our exam results he scolded us because he said that he knew that one exam was missing, and he figured out who was the person who stole it. So we learned the lesson, we failed, the classmate who stole the exam was expelled and I had to learn mathematics. What about you? Share an anecdote here about exams.
